Visualizing Situational Simulation Information By Eddy

چکیده
The Virtual Coach is a web-centric virtual environment that creates temporally dynamic clinical exercises known as situational simulations, with the intention of exposing participants to rapidly unfolding events and the pressure of decision-making. This paper focuses on visualization of information pertinent to the semantics of situational simulations in the Virtual Coach. It analyzes and classifies the information to be visualized, while addressing the broader issue of visualizing information in situational simulations in general. An overview of the Virtual Coach The conceptual framework as explained in Rojas & Mukherjee (2002) serves as the foundation for the development of situational simulations in the Virtual Coach. The components of this framework consist of three major models: the process model, the product model, and the information model. The process model is a representation of the building process, the product model is a representation of the physical facility, and the information model is a representation of the data environment. The conceptual framework also includes a visualization mechanism to provide process and product feedback to the participant. Definition of a Situational Simulation Situational simulations are temporally dynamic clinical exercises with the objective of exposing participants to rapidly unfolding events and the pressure of quick decision-making. Awareness attained through such exercises helps the participant to assimilate data from a scenario, analyze the significance of 1 Assistant Professor, Department of Construction Management. Applying Multi Agents to General Purpose Situational Simulations in Construction Management
Situational simulation environments are temporally dynamic clinical exercises that expose participants to rapidly unfolding events and the pressures of decision-making, both characteristic of the implementation phase of construction projects. The need for contextually rich education environments in construction suggests the development of a general-purpose situational simulation framework, whic...
متن کاملA New Approach to Ocean Eddy Detection, Tracking, and Event Visualization-Application to The Northwest Pacific Ocean
High-resolution ocean general circulation models have advanced the numerical study of ocean eddies. To gain an understanding of ocean eddies from the large volume of data produced by simulations, visualizing just the distribution of eddies at each time step is insufficient; timevariations in eddy events and phenomena must also be considered. However, existing methods cannot accurately detect an...
متن کاملModeling the Construction Management Process to Support Situational Simulations
Construction managers are decision makers who administer nontrivial processes. The replacement of highly experienced construction managers and other construction professionals is a laborious process for the industry. This paper introduces a conceptual framework for the construction management practice that serves as the foundation for the development of situational simulations. Situational simu...
متن کاملOn the waxing and waning of working memory: action orientation moderates the impact of demanding relationship primes on working memory capacity.
The present research examined how action- versus state-oriented individuals (Kuhl & Beckmann, 1994) utilize their working memory capacity under varying situational demands. Participants visualized either a demanding or an accepting person, after which their working memory capacity was assessed. Among action-oriented participants, visualizing a demanding person led to greater operation spans (St...
